The Spark Of Genius: Tesla's Coil

In the late 19th century in Colorado Springs Colorado lived a tall man who worked alone in a lab. His name was Nikola Tesla. His invention was the Tesla coil. Mr Tesla moved to America with a dream to free the world with limitless energy.

The coil was that first great step toward that dream. He built the first one in 1891,a strange tower of copper wires, capacitors and carefully wound coils. One of these coils was over 50 feet tall. It sent bolts of lightning hundreds of feet in the sky. This was so powerful it could power light bulbs miles away without any wires at all.

Nobody wanted to fund a invention like this because nobody wanted to save money, investors wanted to make money.Tesla could not get funded.

A man by the name of Guglielmo Marconi sent his first radio signal across the Atlantic in 1901,he was building on ideas Tesla had had demonstrated years earlier.

Beyond radio,Tesla's invention opened doors for wireless communication, microwave, florescent lights and more.

Tesla was not just another inventor. He was a visionary genius that inspired wireless grid systems, the internet, space X and much more.
